I have covid

Yep, last Sunday morning Pepper, Bren and I tested positive to Covid.

After two years of tracking this virus around the globe and doing everything in our power not to catch it, it’s been quite difficult to come to terms with the fact that it’s here. All those lockdowns and masks and regulations, all that fear and paranoia, and here we are. Covid is in this house. It’s in our bodies. And it’s bizarre. I can’t quite wrap my head around it.

Pepper was a few days ahead of us by the time she tested positive, and apart from a bit of fatigue is almost fully recovered. Bren and I are on day 6 and are feeling a bit like - two steps forward one step back. Most of our main symptoms have passed and we’re up and dressed and doing some jobs. But our energy levels are low, and at times even non existent.

I do have this awful taste in my mouth that is making me feel nauseous and making everything I eat taste disgusting. All I’ve been able to manage for the past few days is porridge.

Porridge.

Porridge.

Gosh, I have been watching the cursor at the end of that word blinking on and off for the past few minutes. I’d like to tell you that I was deep in thought constructing the rest of this narrative, but the truth is, my mind was blank. My head feels so full of wet cotton wool right now that I’m finding it almost impossible to think a thought all the way through.

It looks like a few sentences is all that I’m capable of this week. Hopefully by next week I’ll be back to full strength and full of stories of glorious mid Autumn life on the farm.
